Nutrients
Everything this app tracks — 59 values across three tiers. 47 have a written reference panel.
- Energyno reference yet
Tracked and totalled. Reference panel not written yet.
kcal - Protein
Supplies the amino acids your body cannot make for itself.
g - Total carbohydrate
The body's most readily used fuel, and the brain's preferred one.
g - Fiber, total
Feeds your gut bacteria and is the single most under-eaten thing in the diet.
g - Fiber, soluble
The viscous fraction — the one that lowers LDL and slows glucose.
g - Fiber, insoluble
The bulking fraction — what actually moves the bowel.
g - Total sugars
Added and naturally occurring sugars together — a number of limited use on its own.
g - Added sugars
Sugar put into food rather than occurring in it. The clearest thing to cut.
g - Total fat
Carries the fat-soluble vitamins and supplies the two fats you must eat.
g - Saturated fat
Raises LDL. What you replace it with decides whether that matters.
g - Monounsaturated fat
The main fat in olive oil, avocado and most nuts.
g - Polyunsaturated fat
Contains the two essential fats, which are tracked individually.
g - Omega-3 ALA
An essential fat you must eat; the body converts only a little of it to EPA and DHA.
g - Omega-3 EPA+DHA
The marine omega-3s. No official requirement, but good evidence behind them.
mg - Omega-6 linoleic acid
The other essential fat. Plentiful in seed oils, so shortfall is rare.
g - Trans fat
The one fat with no safe intake. Largely removed from the food supply.
g - Cholesterol
The 300 mg limit was withdrawn in 2015. This app is not bringing it back.
mg - Water
The one nutrient you cannot go more than a few days without.
mL - Vitamin A
Runs low-light vision, and keeps skin and immune barriers intact.
mcg - Vitamin D
Lets your body absorb calcium, and behaves more like a hormone than a vitamin.
mcg - Vitamin E
Protects cell membranes from oxidation, especially the fats in them.
mg - Vitamin K
Switches on the proteins that clot blood and bind calcium into bone.
mcg - Vitamin C
Builds collagen, and dramatically boosts iron absorption from plant foods.
mg - Thiamin (B1)
Turns carbohydrate into usable energy; the need rises as you eat more of it.
mg - Riboflavin (B2)
Carries electrons through energy metabolism, and recycles other B vitamins.
mg - Niacin (B3)
Builds NAD, the cofactor behind several hundred metabolic reactions.
mg - Pantothenic acid (B5)
Forms coenzyme A, without which neither fat nor carbohydrate can be burned.
mg - Vitamin B6
The cofactor for amino acid metabolism, so the need rises with protein intake.
mg - Biotin (B7)
Carries carbon dioxide in fat and glucose synthesis. Deficiency is rare.
mcg - Folate (B9)
Builds DNA and divides cells; the one nutrient that must be adequate before conception.
mcg - Vitamin B12
Builds red blood cells and protects your nerves. Only found in animal foods.
mcg - Calcium
Builds the skeleton, and runs muscle contraction and nerve signalling.
mg - Phosphorus
In every ATP molecule, every cell membrane, and most of your bone.
mg - Magnesium
Powers muscles and nerves, and helps you wind down at night.
mg - Sodium
Essential in small amounts, and over-supplied in nearly every processed diet.
mg - Potassium
Sodium's counterweight; the ratio between them matters more than either alone.
mg - Chloride
Arrives with sodium as salt, and makes stomach acid.
mg - Iron
Carries oxygen in blood. The most common deficiency in the world.
mg - Zinc
Runs immune function, wound healing, taste and hundreds of enzymes.
mg - Copper
Needed to use iron, build connective tissue, and run antioxidant enzymes.
mg - Manganese
Cofactor for bone formation and the mitochondrial antioxidant enzyme.
mg - Selenium
Builds the enzymes that recycle antioxidants and activate thyroid hormone.
mcg - Iodine
The thyroid cannot make its hormones without it, and there is no substitute.
mcg - Chromium
Contributes to insulin signalling. Its essentiality is genuinely debated.
mcg - Molybdenum
Cofactor for four enzymes that clear sulphite and break down purines.
mcg - Fluoride
Hardens tooth enamel against decay. Beneficial rather than strictly essential.
mg - Choline
Builds cell membranes and acetylcholine; most people fall short of the AI.
