Omega-3 EPA+DHA
Today
30-day average. Months to years of reserve, so only a sustained trend is meaningful.
2712 mg
Shown as an absolute amount. There is no percentage here because there is no target — see the intake context below.
What it is
The marine omega-3s. No official requirement, but good evidence behind them.
Intake context
Not a target.
- Typical intake
- 110 mg/dayNHANES, US adults — approximate, pending verification against the source tables
- Studied range
- 250–500 mg/day
The United States sets no DRI for EPA and DHA — only for their precursor, alpha-linolenic acid. Conversion from ALA is poor, typically under 10% to EPA and lower again to DHA, which is why intake of the marine forms is tracked separately. These figures are context, not a target.
Full write-up not finished
The reference intake above is real and cited — Omega-3 EPA+DHA is assessed against it exactly like any other nutrient. What is missing is the written panel: what it does in detail, what deficiency and excess look like, absorption, interactions, and food sources ranked against what you eat.
